FAQ
These are the 6 most asked questions.
If you have any other questions, please ask.
Is Massage Therapy covered by OHIP?
No. However, it is covered by most extended healthcare plans. If you have Greenshield, Bluecross or have recently been in an accident, then we can bill on your behalf.

Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. You do not need a note to get treatment, but you should check to see if your insurance company requires one.

Do I have to be a patient at the Grandview Medical Centre?
No. We are open to everyone: seniors, newborns, mentally and physically challenged, pregnant and nursing mothers. If you are not sure about your condition, please call and ask.

What do I wear?
You wear whatever you are most comfortable with. Clients get themselves onto the table after the therapist's assessment. Most clients wear their underwear because they are under a flannel sheet and undraped only where necessary.

Does Massage Therapy hurt?
If the therapist and client have good communication, the treatment should not hurt. However, given some health reasons or unusual pain tolerance levels, some people may experience some degree of pain. Also, it is normal to feel some tenderness the day after your treatment. The bottom line is that treatment does not have to be painful to be effective.
What does Massage Therapy treat?
The most common condition is back, neck or shoulder pain from repetitive movement at work or sport. We also treat any arthritic joint pain, pregnancy, sciatica, carpal tunnel, headaches, stress and anxiety. We treat over 70 conditions and diseases.
